FIERCE CHILDHOOD

(2016) Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Found Audio, Speech engine

Le Van Tam was considered a Vietnamese national hero until he was discovered to be a fictional figure made up by the propaganda. In this work, I used Vnspeech robotic voice engine to read the story, then mixed this with music from Kids with guns by Gorillaz. Afterwards, I made a 3d model based on Vietnamese propaganda posters to insert into Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Finally, the model was released on the Internet for free usage and modification, along with a performative tutorial.

The work addresses the boundaries between history and fiction. It somehow liberates Le Van Tam from his political functions.
