DISORDER IS BEAUTIFUL

(2012) Photo paper on ready-made cubic. Stop-motion animation

Winner of the TT-AS Architecture award, Workroom 4 Open Exhibition, 2013

Inspired by Hanoi's block housing, I created a cubic using images of windows. The initial form of this cubic has 6 sides, each contains only one kind of window. As the players interact with the cubic, its appearance changes and turns the cube into a chaotic form. The cubic is a metaphor for Hanoi's urban landscape.

In the 90s, under the new economy policy, people who lived in apartment complex began to modify and extend their living spaces to accommodate their needs. This resulted in a mixture of same same but different apartments. Originally a Soviet-era architectural product, the block apartment is a place where juxtaposition is manifested — the negotiation between public and individual space.
